June
22, '09: There has been changes in the fixtures due to the upcoming
national Sports Festival and Milo Games. As a result there are games
being play every day at the various venues in and around Accra. This
Monday saw the most improve team, Hoops going against Ghana National
Police Basketball Team. As usual the Hoops boys were in high spirit
and knew already they were going to emerge winners. What they didn't
anticipate was the physical nature of the game. Yes, the Police
players not wanting to lose this game came out in the first minutes
with six straight points. That did not dim the spirit if the boys as
the race is not to the swift but he who endures to the end. At the
end of first quarter, Hoops led 13-11. The second resume with both
sides playing strong defense. At the half time whistle Hoops still
held the lead 24-16. This game saw the team scoring its lowest
points in a half since the 2009 league began. Third quarter the
Police team had no answer to the attacking offence of the Hoops team
which took the quarter 41-32. The game began very physical from then
on with some of the Hoops players receiving cuts and bruises. They
maintain the maturity and at the final buzzer the team won 57-47. O.
Azuazu of Hoops was the MVP scoring 18pts, 8rbds and 3assts. Other
Hoops scorers included S. Oladipo with 17pts, 4rbds. E. Malouta with

Ghana Fire Service winning 90-57
June 6, '09: Cape Coast Hoops played NBA type game against Ghana
Fire Service showing that they are the most improve team this
season. From the beginning of the game saw the team taking control.
Point Guard, Henry Mensah took full control of his team and was the
general on the floor making sure that his team mates were all in
their right position at every set play. The crowd at the Lebanon
House was very impress with the beautiful execution of each plays.
Many went home with the game vivid in their mind and will not forget
for a long time to come. Some commented that the team should have
not lost their match with CEPS if they had played the way they did
today. But as is every sport, there are good days and bad days and
today just seem to be the best day for Hoops in the GAABL. The first
quarter ended 17-12. By half time Hoops led 46-39. Third quarter saw

Hoops Queens and Jr. Hoops
in weekend action
June 6, '09: This weekend was full of action in the Hoops camp which
saw its three teams traveling to Accra for matches. The female and
junior teams were set to square off against the boys and girls of
Tudu Magic. The first match saw Jr. Hoops squaring up with Magic in
what was expected to be a game full of fireworks. It all started
well for them and by half time Jr. Hoops lead a commanding 27-12.
The second half for some reason or another saw the boys playing
poorly
resulting in Magic catching up and taking the lead. Both teams had
38pts each when Magic made the final shot with less than ten seconds
on the clock. Final score, Magic 40-38 Jr. Hoops. The girls seeing
the boys going down could not accept to be beaten and in the next
match they outclass their opponents winning a convincing score of
24-31. This win is their first in playing outside of Cape Coast.
Many who watch their plays recommended that they play in the female
league which starts next month. The Queens were superior in rebounds
in the paint. The Hoops Queens which had three girls standing at
6'1" controlled the boards and Magic received a lot of blocks from
the Queens forwards. We wish them good luck in their campaign to
rule the female section as their male counterparts are doing
presently. View Video

Hoops the maximum point. Was it out of fear?
2009 GAABL: CEPS Braves ends
Hoops winning streak
May 16 '09: As expected
by many basketball fans who watch matches at the Lebanon House, the
matchup between Hoops and Braves of CEPS was worth watching as both
teams currently have the best crop of players in Ghana basketball.
CEPS who are currently the defending champion where also anxious for
the matchup to test the capability of their team who will be taken
part in the African Club Championship in the coming months. The game
which had a lot of fireworks from the beginning to the end had the
crowd going wild with excitement. It was a close one all through.
CEPS lead at the first quarter 14-20. This has been their lowest
score in the beginning quarter for as long as anyone can remember.
In the second quarter Hoops outscore them 15-14 with the half ending
29-34. Both sides came back from the break playing excellent
basketball each scoring 26pts apiece with the third quarter ending
55-61. The fourth quarter decided the game with CEPS outscoring
Hoops 24-36 bring the final result to 79-97. At the end of the match
the CEPS coach was astonished as how tough the game was because
Hoops played them man to man defense all through. He also added that
their win was attributed to the turnovers from the Hoops guard in
the final quarter. This was very true as the point guard
somehow lost concentration in the final minutes turning the ball
over a lot. Hoops player of the day was S. Oladipo who scored 27pts
6 rebounds and 4 assists.

sides playing excellent basketball. Spectators rooted for both sides as the

Ask
any basketball player and those with knowledge of basketball in Ghana and they
will tell you the best players are from Tema. It's no lie as the likes of Daniel

They have a good basketball program going there as well boasting of a few teams
and the most dreaded of all, the Tema Youth Basketball Team. So hearing of a
team coming from outside, not mentioning as far as from Cape Coast, to rule is
unheard of. But its history in the making and the so needed change Ghanaians
wanted is also moving in the basketball world as well. Yes, Hoops went and
conquer. Beating the top three teams, namely, Vikers, Rakers and Tema Youth. It
was a one day basketball gala, all play all. Hoops won their three matches
against stiff opponents and spectators. Each match was a hard fought one as we
were threading on hostile ground. But at the end of each game the lads, who run
the coast, always came out victorious. The last game between Hoops and Rakers
went into overtime. Upon the team return to Cape Coast with the trophy, the
place was on fire as fans congratulated the boys for their achievement. many
were pride that Cape Coast still is on top in basketball. Players representing
Hoops in the tournament were, Henry Mensah(G-6'1"), Dominic Mensah(G-6'0"), Kojo
Bafoe(G-6'4"), John Amoo(F-6'5"), Patrick Ashong(F-6'6"), Mensah Jones(F-6'5"),
Alvin Owusu(G-6'1"), Winfred Kauam(F-6'7"), Anas Ben Anas(F-6'5"), Christopher
