'Stomp the Yard (Buduburam Comm)'
Oct.

basketball arena here in Ghana. The competition expected to grace the basketball
courts in ten communities in and around Accra has already crowned six champions
of both sexes. Buduburam Community is the seventh community to be reached. Hoops
had to battle it out with five other teams with two coming from the Buduburam
Settlement consisting of Liberian players who dubbed the names of teams in
Liberia namely Barrolle and Invincible Eleven. But the superior playing skills
of the Hoops lads led to a 100% record and eventually took the first place as a
result qualifying for the grand finale which will be held on December 19, 2009
at the Legon Basketball Court in Accra. In the female games, Hoops Queens came
second after they lost narrowly to the girls from the settlement. Communities

2009 GAABL: Hoops defeat
Youtive clinching 2nd Position
Aug. 18'09: Hoops
end 2009 season with a emphatic win over Youtive. This win takes the team to the
second position at the end of regular games. Youtive has been in this position
in the last two seasons. CEPS, winning or their games maintain the top spot yet
again. CEPS was the only team Hoops lost to in the 2009 Greater Accra Amateur
Basketball League. The game against Youtive no doubt was expected to be a
spectacular one. Youtive started with inside plays starting with a 6-0 run but
the instant reply to their offensive plays saw them drawing blank by the end of
the first quarter, though they won the quarter. From the second quarter to the
fourth they had nothing to show as it began a one sided game. Saykan Bestman of
Cape Coast Hoops led all scorers putting in 15pts, 7 rbds and 4 assts.
July
25, '09: Cape Coast Hoops is just too strong this season for
majority of the teams. Thereby there is just no chance that the
league least team could cause an upset. DC Dynamics where not just
at the level to even make it a competitive game except in the second
quarter when they had their point known as Bread Kynf running the
show. Yet things were hard for them to gather their offence against
a strong man on man defense which has been the trade mark of Hoops
this season. E. Malouta of Cape Coast Hoops led all scorers with 20
points and 5 assists.

2009 GAABL: Mighty Reformers fall to Hoops 75-64
July
13, '09:Cape Coast Hoops was in action against Reformers.
Reformers is a team comprising of Prisons Officers. They are a very
tough side as many who follow Ghana basketball are aware of. Been
Prison Officers they are tough both mentally and physically. But
their toughness was put to the test when they played Hoops in their
own back yard. They found it difficult this time against a team like
Hoops who are coming from a long winning streak. Mohammed, one of
the fearsome basketball player on the Ghanaian scene represented for
the Reformers but his presence did little for them. The game no
doubt live up to expectation as both sides played exciting and tough
basketball from the onset. K. Dewee of Cape Coast Hoops led all
scorers with 25pts, 10 rebounds and 7 assists.
2009 GAABL: Tudu Wizards spells fail. Lost 56-71 to Hoops
July
1, '09: Cape Coast Hoops maintains its impressive run in this year's
Greater Accra Amateur Basketball League. This time the lads from Tudu falling
victim to the boys from the coast. From the beginning of the game, it showed
that the Wizards was no match to the their opponents despite Charles, power
forward of Hoops not in the lineup. Wizards even try to field a player who was
not register. This show how desperate they were wanting to win at all cost
despite loosing almost all of their games so far in the league this season. The
first half was very difficult for them as they fought to get their game plan
against a man on man defense from Hoops. At the close of first quarter Hoops
lead 2-18. They came back fighting strong in the second quarter and by half time
they were still down 23-40. The third quarter saw Hoops making use of their
bench, bringing in the five players who had not yet had any minutes. The third
quarter saw Hoops slowing down in attack and the Wizards took advantage of it
and outscore Hoops in the quarter 20-12 reducing the margin at the close of the
quarter to 43-52. The last quarter saw Hoops bringing back their starting five
players not wanting an upset. Than on Wizards had no answer for the rapid
offence and had to resign to defeat. Final Score 56-71. Hoops highest scorer was

national Sports Festival and Milo Games. As a result there are games
being play every day at the various venues in and around Accra. This
Monday saw the most improve team, Hoops going against Ghana National
Police Basketball Team. As usual the Hoops boys were in high spirit
and knew already they were going to emerge winners. What they didn't
anticipate was the physical nature of the game. Yes, the Police
players not wanting to lose this game came out in the first minutes
with six straight points. That did not dim the spirit if the boys as
the race is not to the swift but he who endures to the end. At the
end of first quarter, Hoops led 13-11. The second resume with both
sides playing strong defense. At the half time whistle Hoops still

Police team had no answer to the attacking offence of the Hoops team

Ghana Fire Service winning 90-57
June 6, '09: Cape Coast Hoops played NBA type game against Ghana
Fire Service showing that they are the most improve team this
season. From the beginning of the game saw the team taking control.
Point Guard, Henry Mensah took full control of his team and was the
general on the floor making sure that his team mates were all in
their right position at every set play. The crowd at the Lebanon
House was very impress with the beautiful execution of each plays.
Many went home with the game vivid in their mind and will not forget
for a long time to come. Some commented that the team should have
not lost their match with CEPS if they had played the way they did
today. But as is every sport, there are good days and bad days and
today just seem to be the best day for Hoops in the GAABL. The first
quarter ended 17-12. By half time Hoops led 46-39. Third quarter saw
the lead stretch to 72-46. There was no hope for Fire as Hoops took

Hoops Queens and Jr. Hoops
in weekend action
June 6, '09: This weekend was full of action in the Hoops camp which
saw its three teams traveling to Accra for matches. The female and
junior teams were set to square off against the boys and girls of
Tudu Magic. The first match saw Jr. Hoops squaring up with Magic in
what was expected to be a game full of fireworks. It all started
well for them and by half time Jr. Hoops lead a commanding 27-12.
The second half for some reason or another saw the boys playing
poorly
resulting in Magic catching up and taking the lead. Both teams had
38pts each when Magic made the final shot with less than ten seconds
on the clock. Final score, Magic 40-38 Jr. Hoops. The girls seeing
the boys going down could not accept to be beaten and in the next
match they outclass their opponents winning a convincing score of
24-31. This win is their first in playing outside of Cape Coast.
Many who watch their plays recommended that they play in the female
league which starts next month. The Queens were superior in rebounds
in the paint. The Hoops Queens which had three girls standing at
6'1" controlled the boards and Magic received a lot of blocks from
the Queens forwards. We wish them good luck in their campaign to
rule the female section as their male counterparts are doing
presently. View Video
2009 GAABL: Panthers forfeit
match

Hoops the maximum point. Was it out of fear?
2009 GAABL: CEPS Braves ends
Hoops winning streak
May 16 '09: As expected
by many basketball fans who watch matches at the Lebanon House, the
matchup between Hoops and Braves of CEPS was worth watching as both
teams currently have the best crop of players in Ghana basketball.
CEPS who are currently the defending champion where also anxious for
the matchup to test the capability of their team who will be taken
part in the African Club Championship in the coming months. The game
which had a lot of fireworks from the beginning to the end had the
crowd going wild with excitement. It was a close one all through.
CEPS lead at the first quarter 14-20. This has been their lowest
score in the beginning quarter for as long as anyone can remember.
In the second quarter Hoops outscore them 15-14 with the half ending
29-34. Both sides came back from the break playing excellent
basketball each scoring 26pts apiece with the third quarter ending
55-61. The fourth quarter decided the game with CEPS outscoring
Hoops 24-36 bring the final result to 79-97. At the end of the match
the CEPS coach was astonished as how tough the game was because
Hoops played them man to man defense all through. He also added that
their win was attributed to the turnovers from the Hoops guard in
the final quarter. This was very true as the point guard
somehow lost concentration in the final minutes turning the ball
over a lot. Hoops player of the day was S. Oladipo who scored 27pts
6 rebounds and 4 assists.
